I think it's high-time that high-fashion came back to our tables. I think we have taken casual to a new low, and propose that brides ought to start registering for china again. I think every home should have some "good" pieces that help to make special moments even more special. At this time of year, having some lovely staple pieces would be just the ticket to making your family dinners a bit glamorous - a bit elevated. I suppose the truth is that any time of year is a great time to make the everyday act of eating dinner a more lovely experience.
For example, what if your hubby surprised you with a Tuesday-evening meal on a well-set table? Would your jaw not drop and your heart start racing? Even if he came at you with Chinese take-out, the meal would be a memorable one! A fancy napkin, a lovely goblet, some pretty candles and some Crab Rangoon? I'm there!
So, in honor of the lovely meals that are prepared this time of year, I offer you a few items that you could use any time of the year to make a beautiful tablescape. Tweak the linens and the flowers, and these bones can take you from "Happy Thanksgiving" to "Happy Birthday" and everything in between.
(I am taking the formal edge off of the fine china by giving this assemblage an earthy vibe. This setup would suit well during the winter months - my next posts will take these bones into spring, then summer, then fall. You can see how a few good pieces will carry you quite far, and they will even look lovely when smeared with sweet-and-sour sauce...)
Cheers!!!
P.S.) Nobody ever said that Christmas HAS have tables tricked-out in red-n-green or blue-n-silver... Try a new classy combo this year!!! Peacock and pomegranate! Brown and gold! There are so many lovely color pairings just waiting to be explored!!!
