Ready for some more before-and-after action? I figure most of the words were said in the last post, so we are really just here for a few small comments and some pictures, don't you think?
To recap, the laundry room was a narrow space that barely had room to open the doors on the front-loading machines. There was a sink and some storage, but there really wasn't a place for coats and hats and shoes and stuff in this pass-thru mudroom/laundry...
To summarize/oversimplify what we did to increase function (and form!):
- The area where the growth chart is hanging is the wall to a closet that held 2 water heaters that were accessed from the garage. We nixed those and replaced with on-demand water heaters so that we could reclaim that space to the interior.
- The area behind the sink and utility closet is where the shower in an adjoining bath was located. We removed the shower and stole that space too.
- We used the plumbing/drain for the shower and moved the laundry machines to that side so that we could create a drop-zone for the Mrs., and some cubbies for family outerwear and shoes. We took the cabinets to the ceiling to make more storage.
- We removed the swinging door and put in a pocket door so that the door swing didn't interfere with the use of the space.
- New lighting, flooring, paint, countertops, backsplash, knobs, etc.
ANNNNDDDDDD... TA-DA!
Gosh. That was a quick and simple post! I just wish the project had gone that way! Ha! Next post: powder room re-do.
